Prototype Three
This prototype is basically a tilted version of Prototype 2, but it is somehow the most successful or reasonable way to achieve what the project want at the first place. Instead of projecting from above, light from the projector is now changed to shine from above, vertically onto the structure. This arrangement prevented the light to hit the other end of the dome to create unwanted image, instead, images are formed on the ground inside the structure, creating an extension of projection down to the audience’s feet (prototypes before only considered above eye-level experience). In addition, the bright spot problem is also kind of solved as the source is now vertically above the audience, which the disturbance is relatively reduced by a great factor. The possible complaints about this method of projection is that the footage used works better in a circular shape, which is very uncommon in the modern days. Also, even though images on the ground can be considered an extension, the transparency of upper structure ‘leaks’ to much of light to the bottom and it is quite clearly seen that the image on the ground is more distinguishable than on where it is designed to be.
